Wajir Teachers Training College (WTTC) was established in 2015 in response to the growing demand for qualified and professionally trained teachers in northern Kenya. At the time, the region faced a significant shortage of skilled educators, which negatively affected the quality of education in many communities. To address this gap, the college was founded with a clear mission — to provide accessible, high-quality teacher training in Kenya and develop competent, community-focused educators.
Since its establishment, Wajir Teachers Training College has made significant progress in fulfilling its mandate. Through a strong commitment to academic excellence, accredited teacher training programs, and continuous improvement, the college has grown into a respected teacher training institution in Wajir and the wider northern Kenya region. Its focus on practical skills, modern teaching methods, and professional development has strengthened its reputation.
Over the years, WTTC has expanded its capacity, enhanced its facilities, and diversified its programs, including diploma and ECDE courses, to meet the evolving needs of teacher education in Kenya. Today, the college stands as a reliable center for teacher education, playing a key role in shaping the future of education in northern Kenya by producing skilled and qualified teachers.
